back on track!!!!

boy do I need to get back on track. I thought my excuse before was the wedding, but now the wedding is over and I am still off schedule. I need routine! NEED IT! I need to force myself to get out there and run. I need to get into my basement and lift. Because not only do I want to stay in shape, it makes me feel soooo much better. You just dont realize how much exercising does for you until you stop and feel the consequences. Must prepare for the 5 mile run that is coming up!

So last night, Kevin and I went to Giant and got some groceries. We shopped almost exclusively in the organic/natural section (except for the produce) and I feel really good about it. I got home last night and whipped up some black-eyed peas, brown rice, & veggie bowls (stole the concept from Amy's meals). And then I froze the meals -- it made 5 servings. I am so excited to eat it and know that it is 100% fresh natural food and nothing processed. Just good food. Yum.

And I must say that I tasted it when I was cooking and I did a mighty good job for concocting my own recipe. Maybe I am not as bad at the cooking thing as I thought?

Avoidance Tactics

Alright I admit it - I have a blog (well multiple blogs) and I try to avoid at all costs actually writing anything personal. Ha. My tactic usually includes finding an interesting site and sharing it on my blog(s). It allows me to 1) publish a new post so that I feel good that I have been an active part of my blog.. and 2) avoid actually writing any personal comments, feeling, etc on the blog.

I am not sure what I am scared of. I think it is less that someone could read it and more the fact that I dont want to really sit down and explore my own thoughts. Sometimes that is painful. Not always, I could just write about my feelings on the day, but then that gets kind of tedious. I am totally not on that, unwind and open up writing movement. It's always been a struggle for me.

Me, this morning, blogging.
When I was younger I always thought it was so "COOL" to keep a diary. All the cool teenage girls in movies and tv that I watched kept a diary. So I would buy one and write in it for "therapeutic" purposes. I actually did pretty well at writing to my feelings and what was going on. It usually involved some boy or friend drama. But those writing experiments would last for a week, a month at tops and I'd forget and move on.

Being that a blog (well a personal one at that) is for the most part just an online diary, this whole posting thing gets me. The thing is, I love technology. I want to contribute to the online world. I WANT to write and use my blog daily. I just struggle. And thus we have the "hey - go to this website! It's really cool" posts. Not that these are bad. I just realize that I do it a lot.

What is my point? Hmm, not sure. I guess I'm just trying to open up and do what I am writing about that I don't do. Is it working?

Well, whatever! Just dont expect another post like this for a while! Unless I get that "I wanna be COOL" teenage girl bug again. It could happen. It seems to come and go. Thus is the story of my diary-writing history.

What I'm excited about lately...

Oh, I'm excited about lots really. Of course, I have to be excited about my upcoming wedding!! So much going on. But on a bit of a smaller scale...or maybe a bigger one? I am very excited recently about Kevin and my new web design business. It seems to have really taken off! I mean right now, its just a website here, an update there, but inquiries are coming in and in time, it could just grow really big! :)

We just got contracted to build a website for the Third Rail here in Blandon. I am super excited about this one. It will be a very clean site. My goal is to make it look as though you've walked into the restaurant. We've gotta think outside of the box.

Check out www.blacklabmd.com for links to past and present projects!! :)

Another food site?

Have you ever stood in your kitchen looking at your fridge and the contents of your fridge and wondered what you could do with the random ingredients you have on hand without having to run to the grocery store?

Ever come up short?

I just found a a great website that allows you to input the ingredients you have on hand and it will generate a list of recipes that you can make with what you have. I can think of a lot of times this would have saved me the dreaded trip to the grocery store. Or better yet, saved me from eating a boring (but many times good) peanut butter & jelly sandwich.
supercook.com
It's called SuperCook. The Intelligent Recipe Search Engine. I have not, however, tried out any of these recipes so I cannot vouch that they are reliable and tasty recipes. But from looking through the site, most seem to be simple and easy.

Seems like I'm posting a lot about food lately. Maybe this is spawned by my fiance announcing that he wants to go back to school for culinary? Who knows. But here's another cool site to check out.
